Arcturus Releases Their New Gaussian Splat Viewer for Steam Frame

Arcturus, the company behind the Steam Frame’s tracking system and the Arcturus Vision Camera accessory, has released their gaussian splat viewer, Arcturus Vision Gaussian XR, on Steam earlier today.

For the uninitiated, guassian splats are three-dimensional scenes of real-life places or objects that have been created from stitching together many photographs of the real thing. Arcturus Vision Gaussian XR allows users to explore such scenes in VR, on Steam Frame. The new app includes eight sample scenes that were created using the Arcturus Vision Camera, which according to Arcturus includes “a house on Lake Michigan, and a house at different stages of construction”. Users can even import their own compatible scenes in the form of PLY and SOG files.

Reviewers have been raving about the Vision Camera ever since the Steam Frame’s reveal, and if you’d like to hear our own thoughts on this little doodad, you can check out our review right here on Steam Frame Hub.
